In the summer, colonies of Arctic Terns nest by the shores of the 12th -14th holes. It’s quite an experience to get so close.
Birds such as Eurasian oystercatchers, European golden plovers, White wagtails and many others reside by the fairways of Hlidavollur.
The 18-hole championship course plays down and along the ocean, with the bay and majestic Esja mountain as a backdrop.

Host of the 2020 National Stroke
Play Championship
Every year, Hlidavollur hosts an event for the Icelandic golf tour called "Eimskipsmótaröðin" or the Eimskip Tour.
Hlidavollur will host the 2020 National Stroke Play Championship, where the nations best players will attend.
